Advertising agencies often are assigned to create direct mail or sales presentation pieces on behalf of client companies. Many creative directors and designers seek to incorporate new ideas to get away from the “same-old same-old” of flat #10 envelope mailings and stale presentation folders and binders. As their creative juices churn, they are faced with this typical dilemma: How to structurally engineer their concepts so that when presenting to the client they know that their creative is not only do-able, but also economical to produce.

MOTB partners with advertising agencies to serve as their behind-the-scenes structural design engineer. We are often invited to the initial creative meetings to brainstorm new ideas. Our engineers are particularly adept at turning thumbnail sketches into fully functional structures. As specifications are developed, MOTB then provides production estimates, complete with manufacturing and fulfillment lead-times, so that agencies have all the data necessary to present to the client for expeditious approval.

Design firms also utilize MOTB’s consultative structural engineering services as they conceptualize innovative presentation materials, product packaging, point-of-purchase displays, or new product development. Challenged to innovate, designers seek new and better methods to bring products or services to market. In MOTB they find a creative partner with whom they can bounce off ideas, experiment with new materials and/or manufacturing processes, and achieve dynamic results.
